East and West in Tulsa by Bicycle

TULSA – The multi-use paths of Tulsa’s RiverParks, among the top 30 public spaces in the U.S., can be a comfortable and relaxing way to ride a bike for transportation for north and south trips. However, similar options don’t exist for east and west travel through the core of the city.
Bicycle Boulevards, also called Neighborhood Greenways, could be the way to bring east and west bicycle facilities to the streets of Tulsa.
The following video explains the Bicycle Boulevard concept and shows how the on-street greenways encourage bicycling in an environment where cars are not prioritized.

What’s not to like about bike boulevards? However, the real problem is criminal speeding just to catch the red. Maybe we recognize the underlying misguided assumptions and rethink roadways design? http://www.bikewalk.org/pdfs/trafficcontrol_backtobasics.pdf http://www.thenewspaper.com/rlc/docs/2008/vanderbilt.pdf http://trafficcalming.org/
